Dear All

A further update on our activities for the rest of 2020.    The decisions have in truth been taken out of our hands by the Government’s restrictions on what can be done in the current circumstances.

The Castle Gardens Gold Club has suspended all its talks for 2020, and we are not confident that we would be able to proceed safely with the talk on Watercress scheduled for October.   These two events are therefore postponed (it is a more positive word than “cancelled”) until 2021.

We are cancelling our AGM, awards presentation and supper at the end of November.   If we have been over-cautious in making this decision so early, then the Committee will look at arranging an informal members evening towards the end of the year.

This means that our 2020 programme from the Spring Show onwards will be carried forward to next year as intact as we can make it.   We will of course confirm the details as soon as it is practical to start to put plans in place.

On a more positive note, the Suttons Seeds catalogues for 2021 are due to arrive shortly, together with the members’ discount order forms.  The discount remains the same – 25% on all seeds, and 10% on everything else they sell.   As only four members used this benefit last year, Suttons have cut back on the number of catalogues and order forms that they are sending us.    If you would like to go on the list, please let Jeanne Mousley know ([email protected]) so that you don’t miss out.

No doubt this year you have all, like myself, produced prize-winning vegetables, fruit, flowers, cookery, photographs etc.,  for which we would obviously have been awarded one of those highly prized cups and even perhaps one of the  “Best in Show” trophies.

Ah well, we can dream, can’t we?  We will just have to do it all over again next year.

Best wishes

Pat

President
